Pre-Cruise Hotel & Dance

Our Pre-Cruise plans were to provide a Hotel stay and Saturday Night Dance.  We currently have both of those to offer you, but not as a “package”.  What we do have is a hotel stay at the Queen Mary Hotel and a good swing dance to attend on Saturday Night with DJ, David Koppelman, who plays great stuff.

THE QUEEN MARY HOTEL
The Queen Mary is the Ocean Liner that first went into service in 1929 and sailed the oceans in Luxury for many years as well as service during the war.  Now, she is a hotel, docked adjacent to the Carnival Cruise Terminal.  That’s right – you stay on the original Queen Mary!  And – no transfer is needed between the Queen Mary Hotel and your Carnival Cruise.  More Queen Mary Info: http://www.queenmary.com

Also, the Long Beach “Passport” shuttle bus provides free shuttle service to downtown Long Beach every 15 minutes.  Downtown you will find good eateries (Pine Street), some shopping, and the Aquarium of the Pacific if you have some extra time.  And lastly, the walking tour of the Queen Mary is also free to hotel guests.  Rates are $80/person double occupancy, $160/person single occupancy.  See more details below…

WEST COAST SWING DANCE
The monthly West Coast Dance in Belmont Shore is happening Saturday Night, January 26th ($10.00 at door).  The dance promoters say they will provide shuttle services between the dance and the Queen Mary.  There will be a fee to cover transportation costs – but they expect the cost to be low.  Final details will come with your final documents.

The Dance Features:

• Dancing from 8:00 pm to 12 Midnight.  ($10.00 at the door)
• Shuttle Service from the Queen Mary (additional fee to be determined)

• A Full American Breakfast Voucher is included in hotel stateroom rate.
• The Queen Mary is adjacent to the Carnival Cruise Terminal – no shuttle needed.
• The monthly West Coast Dance in the Belmont Shore area (20 min) is happening Saturday Night, January 26th ($10.00).  We are currently investigating transportation options

Cancellation Fees
50% After Nov 9, 2007
100% After Dec 27, 2007

Family staterooms with two double beds or king/twin may be reserved at a higher rate based on availability.

The charge for additional adult is $20.00 per adult, per night.  Either a crib or rollaway is available at $20.00 per night and children under the age of seventeen (17) may stay in their parents’ room free of charge, when no additional bedding is required.

PARKING

Currently, self-parking is $10.00 per car, per day.  Shipside valet parking is available at an additional $8.00 per car, per day. 

Please note, The Queen Mary is accessible via all major freeways and is in close proximity to the following airports: Los Angeles International (19 miles), Long Beach Municipal (5 miles), and Orange County/John Wayne International (21 miles).  Rental car facilities are currently available at each airport as well as The Queen Mary.

MEALS

A Full American Breakfast Voucher is included in hotel stateroom rate.

THE QUEEN MARY offers cocktails in Sir Winston’s Piano Bar and The Observation Bar.  Entertainment is tentatively scheduled for in The Observation Bar.

OPTIONAL – Sunday Brunch is served each in the Grand Salon, the original First Class Dining Room.  This lavish brunch currently offers 51 entrees. 

TRANSPORTATION

The city’s Passport Shuttle offers free transportation for hotel guests to Downtown Long Beach, departing from The Queen Mary every 15 minutes.  Serving the Aquarium of the Pacific, Shoreline Village, the Pike, Downtown Long Beach, Belmont Shore, South Long Beach and Seal Beach.

SPECIAL NOTES

For registered hotel guests, The Queen Mary’s Self-Guided Shipwalk Tour is complimentary. The Queen Mary is open as an attraction from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Friday through Sunday.  We also offer guided tours on a space available basis from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM for a nominal additional charge per person. 

Non-Smoking Ordinance: Please note that the City of Long Beach Ordinance Number C-7132 prohibits smoking in public areas such as building, restaurants, and conference room/halls. The Queen Mary permits smoking on outdoor public decks, the wharf area, open gangways, and staterooms not otherwise designated “non-smoking.”

1. This service will be available on the day of embarkation and immediately following debarkation only. 

2. To book this service with Carnival:

• Your flight before embarkation must arrive by 2:00 pm
• Your return flight after debarkation must not depart before 12:00 pm
• You must book at least 2 weeks prior to departure – by final payment is recommended

Day of Embarkation:

Transfers can be purchased at the LAX airport by locating a Carnival Representative in the baggage claim area.

Day of Debarkation:

The Information Desk on board the ship sells one-way return transfers to the airport for guests who did not purchase the transfers in advance.

Carnival currently does not have a Fly-Aweigh program into the Long Beach Airport nor offer transfer service for Cruise-Only guests. The distance between the airport and the cruise terminal is 12 miles and approximately

20 minutes away.
